Brief Bio
Priyanthi Anusha is a double degree holder with a
BFA and a BA from two major universities in Sri Lanka. She is now reading for
her MA in Art History at the Post Graduate Institute of Archeology, Colombo,
Sri Lanka.
Being an art teacher since 2001, and since 2011,
has been teaching art in two government schools for middle school and high
school students. She is a Member-artist of Theertha International Artists
Collective and an active participant at Mullegama Art Center. She is also a
member of the Woman’s Artist Colloquium Program, at Theertha and a member of
the Fire Flies Women Artists.
Priyanthi has been regularly participating in
exhibitions in Sri Lanka and abroad since 2009. From painting she has gradually
stepped into installations and performance art focusing on how what is
beautiful from a masculine angle is perceived by females and other gender
related issues as experienced by her as a female. Also she is engaged in
community and child art projects through Theertha and Mullegama Art Center. Her
recent investigation and experimentation is about how well one can adopt
performance art as a socially benefiting community art practice.
